Over this past summer, Vicky Egan (chapter coordinator) and student leaders from last year have been praying for their chapter at South Forsyth High School. They have been praying big! The chapter at South had experienced some challenges last year in getting students to come to the meetings and participate in service projects. After hours of planning and reaching out to the school, things just couldn’t come together for the chapter. Yet, everyone kept praying and sensed that something was just not right and all the time trusting that God would come through.
Ms. Vicky started talking to individual students over the summer about flood and serving in a leader role. After an initial meeting mid-summer, she held a second meeting yesterday after school and TWELVE students showed up interested in leading. While all of this was going on, we learned of another student who had already gone to the teacher sponsor about keeping the chapter alive at South. Without any knowledge of what flood was about (except that we serve in the community), and how it is a much larger ministry than just at South, he offered to help lead the chapter at South. He had already started to pull some student leaders together! So, in one day, we had over 15 students interested in leading the chapter at South!! God is just crazy good like that!
So, right now, both groups of students will come together, get a better understanding of leading a chapter at their school, look at the different officer and leader roles for a chapter, define who will serve in those roles, have their first official leader meeting, and then plan for their kick-off meeting in September. Both groups came together for the Club Blitz today and had a swarm of students interested and signing up for flood. We will keep you posted on what happens with this chapter that God literally brought them together at the very last minute. Both groups of students are the answer to months of prayer. We hope they realize that!
