Bring on the rain

BRING ON THE RAIN day of service will be on January 16th, 2012 (MLK Jr. Holiday) as over 100 students will spend a day serving in the community. A kick-off rally will be on January 15 at 7:00 pm at the Alpharetta YMCA Teen Center (located on North Point Parkway between Old Milton and Windward Parkway) is the night before for students to prepare their hearts for serving.  All middle and high school students are encouraged to come out for a great day of serving.

1. Pick a project you would like to serve that day.

2. Register on the form below.

3. You will get a confirmation email with details.

4. Specific project information and t-shirtswill be given at the Kick-off Rally.

5. A $20 donation is requested for t-shirts and supplies for projects.

6. Projects will be marked full when capacity is reached.

FULL – Street Reach – FULL: Outreach project to the homeless at Hurt and Woodruff Park. Students will be handing out snack bags and getting to know our friends on the streets * Downtown * Transportation provided

FULL – The Hope Store- FULL: Thrift store that exists to give back their proceeds to local youth organizations like flood, Student Venture, FCA, and more * Alpharetta

FULL – 7 Bridges to Recovery- The Garden – FULL: Play with the children, fellowship with the women, and serve lunch at this Women and Children’s long-term shelter * Smyrna * Transportation provided

FULL – 7 Bridges to Recovery- A Day in the Streets- FULL: Serve alongside other volunteers going under the bridges and to poverty stricken areas of Atlanta *  Downtown * Transportation provided

FULL – 7 Bridges to Recovery lunch preparation -FULL: Assist in making over 300 meals to be handed out by other flood student volunteers the same day to homeless living under the bridges and underpasses * Alpharetta

FULL – Homestretch- FULL: Assist with maintenance projects at this transitional housing program * Roswell.

FULL – Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home – FULL: Play Bingo and have an ice cream social with residents living in this nursing home * Cumming.

“Fat Boy Chronicles” Movie Viewing:  A family discussion starter based on the true story of a boy who was bullied because of his weight.  4:30 – 6:30 – Studio Movie Grill – Tickets are free and open to Middle school, High school, college students, and families.
