served with flood
Flood has shown me new ways to extend God’s grace and mercy to people who are living right in our community. It is so encouraging to be in an environment where I see God working in the hearts of people serving alongside me. The flood community is filled with people who walk alongside me and helping me grow in my faith. I am constantly amazed and motivated to find new ways to serve people who are in need.
I love to serve with flood because amidst the craziness of HS serving gives me a brake and really lets me refocus on what matters. I love putting a smile on the faces of strangers who may be going thru a rough time. I love hearing their stories and praying for them. When I am serving, its a time for me to reconnect with God, appreciate how blessed I am, and bond with the friends I am serving with.
Flood Student Missions was one of the highlights of my time in high school. I developed deep, authentic relationships with the people I served and served with, and also grew as a leader as opportunities presented themselves to lead other students. As I grew in my faith, Flood was the perfect outlet of service to live out the words God had spoken into my life. God used Flood to engrain on my heart that it truly is “better to give than to receive”, and I know that the desire to serve others will be a passion of mine for the rest of my life.
I began participating with Flood in middle school and continued throughout much of high school. During my last year at the University of Georgia, I have been trying to give back to Athens through volunteering and have found myself looking for organizations that do what Flood does. Flood Student Missions is pivotal in connecting students who want to pour themselves into the lives of other people in their community.
